Cruising Plans for 2009·

  • NEW! We have a new outstation at Pender Harbor!!! See this page for details!
  • Easter Cruise: Saltspring Marina Apr 10-12 incl.
Sign up for this cruise at the club house. It will be a fun cruise, hopefully the weather will be good. Dress up in all your finest. Prizes for the best costume, best original, best depiction of the true meaning of Easter etc. Also there will be a brunch at London House (to be confirmed).

Outstations:

  • Fulford Harbour:

We are pleased to announce that we will be using this outstation again in partnership with Nanaimo. We are sharing 100’ with Nanaimo on the outside of A dock. Please see moorage board to get correct location. Remember, this is shared and we must respect each other. Also, for a test, we have contracted with Fulford marina for winter usage. We use the inside of A dock at the end by the ramp. Please fill out the log book; if we don’t have many people stay there then we will cancel it. We have this location until the 14th June, when the shared part will start.

    Pender Harbour Resort and Marina

  • We are pleased to announce that we have a new outstation at Pender Harbour, Duncan Cove, from  June 01 to 30 Sept 2009. We have 100’ on the outside of the 1st vertical dock extending out into the bay. Vancouver Rowing club will be sharing the other side(inside). They also offer a 10% discount on paid moorage and any other facilities that we might use.

The marina has separate showers, washrooms, laundry facilities with a swimming pool. This is a resort so it has lovely grounds, flowers etc. Duncan Cove is located as the 5th cove as we enter Pender Harbour, the next just west of Hospital Bay.

Look up on their website to see all the amenities etc. I am sure that you will fall in love  with the place. We are going to insist that you can stay on the dock no more than 2 days before you must leave. You can still anchor in the bay and use the facilities. No staying on the dock for extended periods as some have been doing. Also you must stay on your boat to sleep. No disappearing for days with the marina not being able to get a hold of you. A separate Google map will be posted. Again, you must sign the log book, it is important to keep this up to date for our records so that we know weather it is a worthy project.

  •  It is imperative that we use these outstations or we will loose them due to inactivity. There appears to be a distinct feeling among some members that we are paying too much for these. The only way we can keep costs down is to use them (boat nites/$). It is up to you.

  • Fulford Harbour  update - Fall 2008 to 2009.
The executive vote to extend the use of Fulford Harbour marina as an outstation for the winter period. The use period will be as follows:

Sept 16-30-----------continue to use the outside of “A” dock

Oct 01- Nov 15----- we have been allowed to use the inside of “A” dock from the beginning of the linear portion for 100 ft.

Feb 15-May 31---- use inside of “A” dock as in Oct 01-Nov 15

    Jun 01-15-------------outside of “A” dock

Please note: The marina will be closed during the winter period. Power will be shut off to “A” dock except where we use. We will have the use of 30 amp power on a couple of sites.

The marina will leave a key in a lock box for us (we provide), where can gain access to the showers and washrooms. The key must be returned to the lock box each time of use or there will be a $20.00 charge to the offending boat. Also power is charged at a rate of $6.00 per day. Please put your money in the envelope provided in the lock box. This is an honour system. Please do not destroy the trust the Marina has offered to us. This privilege will be revoked if we don’t pay for our power.

Thank You,

 Don Paget,
 Staff Captain 2009
